I grew up in small community in Middle Tennessee and went to Auburn University where I met my husband, Brian.  We have been married 15 years and have three great kids, Morgan, Hannah and William. I was hired by International Paper out of college and have been fortunate to travel and live in several U.S. cities, including a four year stint at IP's Washington, D.C. offices.  I transferred to our Global Headquarters in Memphis and moved to Germantown in 2001.

We love the Germantown community and have found a home, neighbors and church--at Germantown United Methodist-- that makes this area such a great place to raise a family.

Community service is a personal passion and at least once a month we try to do some type of volunteer activity as a family.  Any free time we have outside of sports, music and the usual carpool frenzy is spent just being together or heading out of town to see the Auburn Tigers play!

Many people have asked me why I am running for this position.  I have already mentioned my passion for service, but I believe we are at an important cross-roads in education as a community.  I attended a small rural public school with just 70 students in my graduating class.  Although I didn't have the same access to classes that my children have, I had two things that can help any child succeed.  The first was high expectation from parents on the importance of school and getting a great education.  The second was great teachers.  I can name those teachers that pushed and encouraged me and put options before me I otherwise wouldn't have seen.

Thirty years later, I believe these are still some of the fundamentals our children need to achieve success and that is why I am passionate about education.  I want our children to have opportunities and experiences that we can only imagine and I know as a community we can come together to make that happen.
